Bulgaria Air
Bulgaria Air is a state-owned Bulgarian air carrier, established in 2002 as a successor to the insolvent Balkan Airlines. By the order of the Minister of Transportation and Communications it was declared flag carrier in November 2002, thus being granted licence to operate some of the most profitable destinations. Bulgaria Air is set for privatization in 2005 and although the government would like to see the carrier go to a major foreign investor, a union of locally-owned companies, led by Hemus Air, has emerged as a likely contestant.
