Burgerless burger
A burgerless burger, especially in Southern California, means a burger made without a meat patty. Unlike the veggie burger which is not available in all fast-food restaurants, a "burgerless burger" is more widely available.
You may order a burgerless burger from these restaurants:
- Cassell's : grilled cheese
- Fatburger: skinny fats
- In-N-Out: Veggie Burger (without cheese) / grilled cheese (with cheese)
- Tommy's
A burgerless burger can also be a burger made from a non-beef meat substitute because of fear of bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE). For example: some restaurants may call their BLT sandwich or ham & cheese sandwich a "burgerless burger".
