Campaign for Innocent Victims in Conflict

The Campaign for Innocent Victims in Conflict (CIVIC) is an aid organization working to obtain US government assistance for communities and families victimized by war, especially US military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. Marla Ruzicka, the founder of the organization, was killed in Iraq on April 17, 2005.

CIVIC seeks to ensure that timely and effective life-saving assistance is provided to innocent victims of war in Iraq in Afghanistan by keeping the issue on the agenda both on the ground and in the halls of Congress.

Other goals of the organization include promoting public understanding, engagement and support for the human dimension in wars. CIVIC considers the responsibility for recording and assisting civilian casualties of war to be a moral and humanitarian duty.
