Captain Olimar

Captain Olimar is the fictional main character in the Pikmin series of video games. He hails from the distant planet Hocotate, where he is one of the most well known spacemen currently residing there. Captain Olimar is only about the size of a quarter, or about the size of a fifty pence piece. He can not breathe oxygen, as it is poisonous to him.

Captain Olimar's favorite food are pikpik carrots, of which he names the pikmin after due to their simular appearance.

In Pikmin, Captain Olimar's spaceship crash-lands onto a strange, unknown planet that resembles Earth after his craft was hit by a meteorite. Discovering the pikmin, he enlists their help in an attempt to retrieve the scattered parts of his spaceship so he can return home. Unfortunatley, the planet contains oxygen within its atmosphere, which is poisonous to Olimar. He has an air supply in his spacesuit which is capable of keeping him alive for 30 days. Therefor, he must collect the parts of his ship before this time runs out.

In Pikmin 2, Olimar and his assistant, Louie, are ordered by the company they are employed by, the Hocotate Freight Company, to return to the planet to look for various treasures, in order to sell them and attempt to get the Hocotate Freight Company out of debt.

A trophy of Captain Olimar is obtainable in the video game Super Smash Bros. Melee, however, in order to get it, you must first have a Pikmin and Super Smash Bros. Melee file saved onto the same memory card.
