Carrie Underwood
Carrie Underwood (born March 9 1983) is one of the finalists on the fourth season of American Idol. A farm girl from Checotah, Oklahoma, she is a senior in college at the Northeastern State University. She is probably as well-known for her pulchritude as for her strong singing voice. Underwood's influences range from pop to country. On the April 20 elimination show, Underwood demonstrated her ability to play the guitar.
On the March 22 show, after a stunning performance of Heart's "Alone", Simon Cowell predicted that she would "win the competition and sell more records than any other previous Idol." He went onto say on the March 30 show that she has the "it" factor that will make her a star.
Underwood is a member of the Alpha Iota chapter of Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority.
She is the very first American Idol contestant who wasn't born in a hospital.
