The heroes
The Belmont clan
The Belmonts (or "Belmondos" in Japan) are the main heroes of the series. They have the enchanted bloodline that can defeat the Count Dracula. They aren't the only heroes in the series, but they are often the main focus of the games' storylines. In some of the later games, the Belmont name was lost to the characters, making those heroes mere descendants of the legendary family, yet possessing the Belmont blood. For that matter, they are considered part of the Belmont clan.- 1094 - Leon Belmont (Castlevania: Lament of Innocence)
- 1450 - Sonia Belmont (Castlevania Legends)
- 1476 - Trevor Belmont (Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse)
- 1576-1591 - Christopher Belmont (The Castlevania Adventure & Castlevania II: Belmont's Revenge)
- 1591 - Solieyu Belmont (Castlevania II: Belmont's Revenge) (non-playable)
- 1691-1698 - Simon Belmont (various games; see character page for details)
- 1748 - Juste Belmont (Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance)
- 1788-1797 - Richter Belmont (Dracula X: Rondo of Blood, Castlevania: Dracula X & Castlevania: Symphony of the Night)
- 1852 - Reinhart Schneider (Castlevania 64)
- 1917 - John Morris (Castlevania: Bloodlines)
- 1999-2035 - Julius Belmont (Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow)
Other main characters (non-Belmont)
The following characters can be found in the games and are playable:- ∞ - Alucard Tepes (aka Adrian Fahrenheit Tepes) (various games; see character page for details)
- 1094 - Joachim Armster (Castlevania: Lament of Innocence)
- 1094 - Pumpkin (Castlevania: Lament of Innocence)
- 1476 - Grant DaNasty (aka Grant Dinesti) (Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse)
- 1476 - Sypha Belnades (Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse)
- 1748 - Maxim Kishine (Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance)

- 1852 - Carrie Fernandez (Castlevania 64)
- 1917 - Eric Lecarde (Castlevania: Bloodlines)
- 2035 - Soma Cruz (Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow)
While not exactly an official Castlevania character, the Kid Dracula character shares many similarities with the Castlevania series. In fact, the main character is also named Alucard and just may be the same Alucard Tepes when he was much younger. That is just speculation, since the tone of the Kid Dracula game is more focused on comedy, being very distant from the Castlevania universe.
