- Many forms of English have been artificially constructed (Category:Constructed languages). These forms are usually versions of English with simplified grammars and vocabularies.
- An English pidgin is rudimentary, simplified language combining English vocabulary and/or grammar with at least one other language. Pidgins are sometimes artificially constructed, but the most widely-used pidgins develop naturally.
- An English creole is an English pidgin that has developed into a complex language, with stable grammar rules and native speakers.
