Ideally, a category illuminates a relationship between the subjects and objects of knowledge. A fundamental is basic; it is important because it is something that other things can be built upon. It is the object of study of the natural sciences. We, as humans, have survived as a species by applying our technology to survive and adapt to change. We propagate what we have learned to others by documentation and communication.
