Category:Rebels

Rebels are those who resist the status quo authority. This category is for those who carried out armed resistance, as opposed to those who simply defy authority, as in teenage rebellion. The resistance itself should be classified under Category:Rebellion.

The classification of rebels vs. revolutionaries, terrorists, insurgents, or freedom fighters is a controversial one. While "rebel" is a general term, a rebel may be called a "terrorist" by the authority figures and may call him or herself a "freedom fighter". A rebel who seeks to completely transform society should be in Category:Revolutionaries. See Rebellion.
