Pakistan has been the first Muslim-majority nation to elect a woman as head of government. While Pakistani women continue to struggle for advancement, they have made strides by a number of measures. Among these are the rising numbers of women in well-paying professional occupations, increased activism by feminist groups, and a recent rapid reduction in the number of children per woman. This category may be of interest to those who are interested in improving the status of women in the Muslim world, by studying the Pakistani example, and by providing examples of women who have been successful.
