Cathal Coughlan (politician)
Cathal Seán Coughlan was an Irish politician. He was first elected to Dáil Éireann in 1983, in a by-election caused by the death of his brother, Clement Coughlan. His tenure as a Fianna Fáil TD for Donegal South-West was short as he died suddenly in June 1986. His daughter, Mary Coughlan, was elected in his seat at the general election in 1987. She is currently the Minister for Agriculture & Food, the first woman to hold that position.
