Celtiberian script

The Celtiberian script was used to write the Celtiberian language, an extinct continental Celtic language.

The script has been seen in inscriptions dated between the 6th and 1st centuries B.C. It was based on the Iberian scripts that the Celts encountered among the native people when they came into Spain from France. Because the existing Iberian language did not distinguish between voiced and unvoiced consonants, the resulting script was unable to fully express the Celtiberian language.

The largest collection of Celtiberian script known is on a set of bronze plaques found at Botorrita, Spain, and dated to the 2nd century BC.
