Chakotay

Chakotay (born 2326), is a character in the fictional Star Trek universe, played by Robert Beltran, was the second-in-command of the USS Voyager, to Kathryn Janeway, in the science fiction television series Star Trek: Voyager. Chakotay was a Maquis captain of his own ship and crew. This vessel was destroyed after both it and Voyager were transported to the Delta Quadrant. Chakotay joined Voyager's crew as second in command, serving under Captain Kathryn Janeway and accepting the field rank of lieutenant commander. He attended Starfleet Academy from 2344-2348.

As a boy, Chakotay resented his Native American tribe's and father Kolopak's backwater traditions and spirituality and dreamed of entering Starfleet Academy, which he finally managed at 15, under the guide of Captain Sulu. When his home planet of Dorvan was destroyed by Cardassians with all but Starfleet's permission, however, he left Starfleet for the Maquis.

In the Voyager episode "Endgame" gave Chakotay's birth as 2326 and his death as 2394. However, these occurred in an alternate timeline, as probably will change.
