MediaCorp TV Channel U

(Redirected from Channel U)

MediaCorpTV's Channel U (U频道, U Pin dao) is the second Chinese-language channel in Singapore which commenced broadcast on 1 January 2005 (although it had been broadcast since 6 May 2001 under SPH Mediaworks). Taking over the channel from SPH Mediaworks as a result of the media merger, it aims to target the younger generations of Singaporeans as an alternative to the more mainstream and established Channel 8.

In its first three months, the channel continued to show imported programmes which had been telecast while the Channel was run by SPH Mediaworks as well as screening other imported programmes, resulting in the channel having no locally-produced content except for the two news bulletins. Locally-produced programmes began airing from April 2005 onwards, which included a revamp of the news bulletins, the addition of 5 current affairs programmes, and 4 variety programmes.Opening hours:Mon-Fri 3PM Sat-Sun 10AM.Channel U aims for busy Singaporeans aged 15-45
