Cherokee HTTP Server
Cherokee HTTP Server is an free software HTTP web server for Unix-like systems (BSD, Linux, and UNIX systems), and other platforms.
Currently, the Cherokee HTTP Server is developed and maintained by an open community of developers.
Brief history
The Cherokee project born in 2001 by the hand of Alvaro Lopez, a Free Software developer. The project motivation was to build a new web server: something newer than NCSA HTTPd and not so big and heavy like Apache HTTP Server, both of them are now more than 10 years old. It aims to be a really fast web server at the same time that supports all the common functionalities: PHP, CGI, redirections, virtual server, etc.
