Chofu, Tokyo
Chōfu (調布市; -shi) is a city located in Tokyo, Japan.
Chofu is home to Chofu Airport.
As of 2003, the city has an estimated population of 210,428 and the density of 9,773.71 persons per km². The total area is 21.53 km². Chofu-shi has significance to American expatriates because it is home to the American School in Japan, a K-12 insitution attended by many American and international children. There is the park and memorial hall of novelist Mushanokohji Saneatsu. He used to lived in Chofu-city.
Ajinomoto Stadium (formerly Tokyo Stadium) in Chofu hosts soccer games for two J. League teams: F.C. Tokyo and Tokyo Verdy 1969.
The city was founded on April 1, 1955.
