Chris Daly

Chris Daly is a member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. He represents District 6, encompassing the South of Market district and the northern half of the Mission District (known as Inner Mission). He was elected to the Board in 2000 and re-elected in 2002.

Daly first made his name in San Francisco politics as a housing rights advocate. He was a co-founder of the Mission Anti-Displacement Coalition, a community group dedicated to fighting displacement in the Mission District caused by uncontrolled gentrification. Daly's election to the Board of Supervisors came in the aftermath of a return to district-based elections, and he was a part of a group of progressive supervisors (including Jake McGoldrick and Matt Gonzalez) elected in a voter revolt against City Hall.

Daly's position on housing and other social issues put him in opposition to downtown interests, something that influenced his working relationship with then-Mayor Willie Brown.

Daly is married to Sarah Low Daly, has an excellent son, Jack, is a solid poker player, and greatly enjoys college basketball, frequently rooting for Duke University.
