Christian existential humanism
Christian Existential Humanism (CEH) is a reconstructivist social and political philosophy combining Christian humanism and Christian existentialism. As such, it is a form of religious humanism.
CEH consists of three elements: A strong sense of faith, based in a personal relationship with God through Christ; a celebration of individuality and the unique talents of each person; and an ethic of service to humanity as a whole.
The central idea of CEH is "Love God, love thyself, love thy neighbor: Obey God, know thyself, serve thy neighbor", as adapted from the "greatest commandments" of Christianity: "Love God with all your heart, soul and mind," and "Love thy neighbor as thyself."
CEH is a direct descendent of the traditional African-American church experience, which has always had a place for individual talent as expressed through the arts and humanities, and for faith as expressed through service to the community at large.
As an philosophy, CEH is most closely related to the work of the Danish philosopher Kierkegaard.
