Chrismukkah
(Redirected from Christmukkah)
Chrismukkah is a merging of the holidays of Christmas and Hanukkah celebrated in interfaith households with one parent of Christian heritage and another parent of Jewish heritage, or in some Messianic Jewish households. Although the term has been used for many years by rabbis to describe the commercialization of Hanukkah, it gained popularity in 2003 after being featured on the FOX television program The O.C..
Chrismukkah has been adopted as an actual holiday by Chrismukkah.com. The founder of the company created it in tribute to the holiday.
Chrismukkah has been described as "eight days of gifts followed by one day of lots of gifts".
Other names for the holiday include: Chrismukah, Christmukah, Christmukkah, Hannumas and Chanumas.
