Christopher Aponte
Christopher Aponte is a world renowned classical ballet star. He is one of the four top dancers in the world. Mr. Aponte was born in the borough of Manhattan, then moved, at the age of three to live with his paternal grandmother, Dona Lucia Benedetty Aponte in the Bronx.
Mr. Aponte attended the High School of Performing Arts , where he was discovered. He received a scholarship to the prestigious private high school, the New York Academy of Ballet . Upon graduation, Mr. Aponte was accepted to the corp de ballet of the Harkness Ballet School . He made his debut public performance at the Delacorte Theatre in Central Park and received great reviews from the New York Times reporter, Clive Barnes .
Mr. Aponte quickly rose to become principle dancer with the Harkness Ballet Company. He traveled all over the world, performing with his partner, Gelsey Kirkland. Mr. Aponte has performed as principle dancer with the American Ballet Theatre, New York City Ballet, Boston Ballet , Alvin Ailey Company and was Artistic Director of the Spokane Ballet . Mr. Aponte has written fourty ballets and is especially known for his interpretation of Ravel's Bolero.
