As an unincorporated area, Clarksburg's boundaries are not officially defined. Clarksburg is, however, recognized by the United States Census Bureau as a Census-designated Place, and by the United States Geological Survey as a populated place located at 39°13'10" North, 77°17'17" West (39.219488, -77.288001).
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 1,834 people, 604 households, and 498 families residing in the area. The population density is 51.2/km² (132.7/mi²). There are 619 housing units at an average density of 17.3/km² (44.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the area is 90.08% White, 3.54% African American, 0.00% Native American, 4.42% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 1.04% from other races, and 0.93% from two or more races. 2.73% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 604 households out of which 42.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 72.0% are married couples living together, 6.6% have a female householder with no husband present, and 17.5% are non-families. 13.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 4.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.04 and the average family size is 3.34.
In the area, the population is spread out with 29.3% under the age of 18, 4.8% from 18 to 24, 29.7% from 25 to 44, 27.4% from 45 to 64, and 8.8% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 38 years. For every 100 females there are 100.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 103.6 males.
The median income for a household in the area is $88,419, and the median income for a family is $91,216. Males have a median income of $63,125 versus $42,283 for females. The per capita income for the area is $33,174. 4.6% of the population and 3.4% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 6.3% of those under the age of 18 and 6.8% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
