Clay Township, Butler County, Pennsylvania
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 2,628 people, 980 households, and 750 families residing in the township. The population density is 40.3/km² (104.5/mi²). There are 1,036 housing units at an average density of 15.9/km² (41.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the township is 99.09% White, 0.23% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.11% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.15% from other races, and 0.42% from two or more races. 0.80% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 980 households out of which 37.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 62.3% are married couples living together, 9.6% have a female householder with no husband present, and 23.4% are non-families. 19.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 6.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.67 and the average family size is 3.04.
In the township the population is spread out with 26.4% under the age of 18, 7.3% from 18 to 24, 32.5% from 25 to 44, 25.1% from 45 to 64, and 8.6% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 37 years. For every 100 females there are 100.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 97.4 males.
The median income for a household in the township is $33,688, and the median income for a family is $40,833. Males have a median income of $33,259 versus $22,414 for females.
