Cocacolonization
Cocacolonization or coca-colonization is a term for globalization or cultural colonization, often used pejoratively to liken globalization to Westernization or Americanization. Although it is sometimes used more benignly, often the term implies that globalization is either:
- a concept lacking depth and merely about the importation of Western or American goods, or
- a dangerous invasion of Western or American cultural values
The term is a portmanteau of the term colonization and the name of the giant soft drink corporation Coca-Cola which produces the product of the same name.
