Coilover
A coilover is an automobile suspension device. It consists of a shock absorber with a coil spring encircling it. This provides for optimal damping without torsional loads. Many coilovers are adjustable for ride height as well using a simple threaded perch similar to a nut. Note that coilovers are not the same as struts - the former are not designed as wheel-location devices, while the latter are integral to this function.
