Columbarium of San Francisco
The Columbarium of San Francisco is an above-ground burial site built in 1897 by architect Bernard J. Cahill . A beautiful example of Victorian architecture, the copper-domed Columbarium holds the remains of some of San Francisco's most prominent founding families, and is the only burial place remaining in the City. In disrepair for much of the 20th century, it has been largely restored by the Neptune Society , its current operator. It is open to the public.
The Columbarium is at 1 Loraine Court, near the intersection of Stanyan and Anza Streets, just north of Golden Gate Park.
