Compass Group
The British company Compass Group is one of the largest food service businesses in the world. It is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is a member of the FTSE 100 Index. It is headquartered in Chertsey to the south west of London.
The group's turnover for the year ended 30 September 2004 was £11, 772 million. It owns chains such as Upper Crust , Caffè Ritazza , and Harry Ramsden's, and operates many franchises of outlets such as Burger King. It is also provides catering services to many types of institutions, for example schools, hospitals, companies and nursing homes. The group operates in more than ninety countries, with the bulk of its turnover coming from Europe and North America.
