Computer Aided Translation
Also known as CAT, Computer Aided Translation is a set of computer applications that convert text from one language to another.
Examples Of Programs
- Trados
- Wordfast
- StarTransit
How They Work
Computer Aided Translation works by keeping track of past translations and using information learned previously to help translate in the future. This speeds up the translation process.
What CAT Does Not Do
Computer Aided Translation is not like [Translation]. A computer is not simply changing word for word a piece of text. Computer Aided Translation requires human imput. It is not to be confused with Machine Translation.
