Connexion

For meanings of this word with its more common spelling, see connection.

In the history of Christianity in England, a Connexion was a circuit of prayer groups who would employ travelling ministers alongside the regular ministers attached to each congregation.

This method of organising emerged in eighteenth century English Non-conformist religious circles; this is why the otherwise old fashioned spelling (connexion rather than connection) is retained. The Huntingdonian Connexion was founded by Selina, Countess of Huntingdon.

The most significant current use of the term is for the national organization of Methodism in Great Britain; see Methodist Church of Great Britain .

Connexion by Boeing

Connexion may also refer to the in-flight online connectivity service by Boeing. This service allows travellers to connect to the internet while on board a plane in flight, either wirelessly or through a standard Ethernet connextion. The infrastructure uses a phased array antenna on the aircraft, leased satellite transponders, and ground stations.

Connexion was first launched as a service May 17, 2004 with Lufthansa German Airlines. After three months of demonstration service, ANA, Japan Airlines, Lufthansa, and SAS signed on to the service. Other airlines planning to include Connexion service include China Airlines, Singapore Airlines, and Korean Air. In 2005 Boeing expanded the service to include the maritime market.
