Corvo, Azores

Corvo is both a parish and a municipality in northwestern part of the Azores.
The population is 426 (2001) and the area is 17.1 kmē. It has only one parish - one of the smallest in the Azores. The municipality includes the entire portion of the island of Corvo, which is surrounded with the Atlantic Ocean. The nearest parish is in Santa Cruz das Flores on Flores Island. The municipality and the local population are isolated from the rest of the Azores.
The island has an airport, a fire station, a school and hotels for tourists.
The municipality has no boundaries which means it is encircled with the Atlantic Ocean.
It is one of the six municipalities of Portugal that has only one parish.
