Costa Smeralda

Costa Smeralda ("Emerald Coast") is a touristic maritime area in Northern Sardinia, with enchanting beaches and a system of villages completely built in accordance with an extremely detailed urbanistic planning.

The territory known as Costa Smeralda is 55 km long and covers more than 30 km².

This development, started in 1961, was financed by a Consortium of companies; president of this Consortium and representative figure was the Prince Karim Aga Khan. Among the many famous architects involved in the project, Busiri-Vici and Vietti.

Main villages: Porto Cervo , Liscia di Vacca , Capriccioli , Romazzino .

Reference towns: Arzachena , Olbia (airport and harbour).

In September the Sardinia Cup (sailing) is in its waters; reggattas are usually run by famous boats.
