Coventry (disambiguation)
Coventry is a city in England (population 304,746). With this meaning, several Royal Navy ships have been named (see HMS Coventry).
There are several U.S. towns named Coventry:
- Coventry, Connecticut (population 11,504)
- Coventry, New York (population 1,589)
- Coventry, Rhode Island (population 33,668)
- Coventry, Vermont (population 1,014)
To be "sent to Coventry" is to be ostracised, shunned, or otherwise systematically ignored. The phrase dates from the English Civil War, when a military prison was located in the city.
