Craig Capano

Craig Capano (born July 7, 1985) is an American soccer player, who currently plays for the Chicago Fire of Major League Soccer.

Capano was selected 17th overall in the 2002 MLS SuperDraft by the Fire, having elected to forego college to focus on his professional career. Before joining the Fire, Capano had spent two years at the USSF's Bradenton Academy training with the U-17 U.S. national team.

Capano has seen little playing time with the Fire. In his first season, he only played 92 minutes over four games, and his second was little better, as he garnered 122 minutes over 5 games.

Although his third season resulted in only slightly more playing time, as he earned 440 minutes and scored his first MLS goal, the season seems to have represented a turning point. When finally given playing time near the end of the season, Capano was consistently one of the Fire's best players, and much is expected of him in 2006.

Despite playing little in MLS, Capano is still a vital player for the U-20 US national team, along with other notables such as Eddie Gaven, Freddy Adu, Danny Szetela, and Jonathan Spector.
