Crucian carp
The Crucian Carp (carrasius carrasius) is an elusive member of the Cypranid family which is very closely related to the Common Carp of British waters. The Crucian Carp is a small member of the Carp family, which rarely exceeds a weight of 1.5kg.
The British rod caught record for Crucian Carp is 4 lb 9 oz 9 drm, caught by Martin Bowler in a lake in southern England in 2003. There have been various bids for a breakage of this record since, but they have been passed off as the specimens have not been said to have been "True" crucians.
