Cyworld

Cyworld is a South Korean blog-oriented web community site operated by Nate , a subsidiary of SK Telecom. It has been reported that as much as 90 percent of people in their 20s have a blog on Cyworld.

The main feature of Cyworld is the enriched blog service billed "minihompy," which combines blog, photo gallery, message board, and guestbook. What sets Cyworld apart from traditional blog sites such as Blogger and LiveJournal is the "miniroom", which is the virtual room where the blogger's cyberspace alter ego, the "minime", lives. The users can elect to buy wallpapers and furnitures for their virtual counterparts. Background music and other decorations for their "minihompy" can also be purchased. To buy these, users must first exchange their real world currency with "acorns", the Cyworld money.

Cyworld's daily income from selling "acorns" is estimated to be around USD 60 000.
