DJ Friction
DJ Friction is the stage name of hip hop and drum and bass DJ and producer Martin Welzer .
He discovered his affinity for disco music in the early 1980s. Today he identifies his roots as "black" music, meaning Prince and Michael Jackson as well as Steve 'Silk' Hurley . Working as a DJ in the late 1980s in and around his hometown Stuttgart, Friction concentrated solely on hip hop, while as producer he would experiment with different styles including jungle and electro from the mid 1990s on. The commercial breakthrough came with the hip hop band Freundeskreis. After two gold records, DJ Friction set to work on his own babys, mixing his musical roots with fresh new sounds, creating incredible flows by blending disco, funk, soul, rare groove, old school and house with contemporary hip hop and R&B.
