Danga Interactive
Danga Interactive is a software and Internet company most widely known for its LiveJournal service. Danga was founded by Brad Fitzpatrick, who also created LiveJournal. The company's slogan is "We make cool stuff."
Danga Interactive was originally incorporated as Bradfitz, Inc. on August 27 1999. The name was changed to its current form on August 1 2002.
In January 2005, Danga Interactive was bought out by Six Apart, a blogging software company [1][2]. Danga remains a legal entity of its own, albeit a division of Six Apart.
The company was headquartered in Aloha, Oregon prior to its sale, but will now move to Six Apart's offices in San Francisco, California.
Danga's projects include:
- LiveJournal, a popular journal hosting service (weblog)
- The LiveJournal Server, which is licensed under the GPL
- picpix.com, a proposed photo hosting service
- FotoBilder , the open source software that runs picpix.com
- Better Markup Language (BML), a server-side markup language
- S2, an object-oriented programming language
- memcached, an open source cache tool for web applications
