Daniel Radcliffe

Daniel Jacob Radcliffe (born July 23, 1989), from Fulham West London, is a British actor who is best known for playing Harry Potter, the main character of the film Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone and its sequels.

Radcliffe's parents, Alan Radcliffe and Marcia Gresham, discouraged their only child from show business when, at age 5, he said he wanted to perform. However, they must have soon changed their minds, as in December 1999, he made his first on-screen appearance as the young David Copperfield in David Copperfield , the BBC's televised version of the Dickens novel David Copperfield. This was followed in 2001 by his first film appearance, as Mark Pendel in The Tailor of Panama. He has also starred in the movies Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. He is currently filming Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. He is currently being educated at the City of London School in London. He lives with his mother and father in their furnished attic, which is his new bedroom. He has two dogs named Binka and Nugget.

Daniel prefers being called Dan and he plays the bass guitar and once had a bass lesson from Prisoner of Azkaban co-star Gary Oldman.

Daniel is a music fan (mostly guitar rock) and some of his current or recent favourite listening matter includes: The Strokes, The Libertines, The Pixies, Sex Pistols, Iggy Pop, Ash, The Thrills, Darkness, Jet, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Killers, The Distillers, Lou Reed, Audioslave, Nirvana, The Zutons, The Cribs, The Delgados, Stereophonics, Dandy Warhols, Rolling Stones, Longview, The Stranglers, The Undertones, David Bowie, Coldplay, Deftones, Rage Against the Machine, Blur, The Music, Muse, Zwan, The Clash, Brendan Benson, The Rapture and Johnny Cash.

Strange Stories

Daniel has encountered many wild fans (mostly girls) which isn't too surprising. However, there is one fan who sticks in his mind. He remembers the lengendary "tower girl." He speaks of her when asked about a "crazy fan" on the special features of the Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban DVD. According to him, the girl stood outside of the MTV building during TRL wearing nothing but a Harry Potter towel in freezing cold weather. She held a sign which read "Nothing comes between me and Harry Potter."

Where He is Now, Mid-Year, 2005

Now that the filming of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire has finished, Dan is now back at his all boys private school near London, England, which is the famous City of London School. He will remain there and finish up the year at the school, and then he will begin to promote the Goblet of Fire when it is released later this year. As this will involve plenty of interviews, parties, and travel, he will most likely not see his school for a long time after this period, and even when all of that is finished, it is rumoured that he will begin filming Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, which could take up to eleven months.
