Danny Lebern Glover (born July 22, 1946) is an American actor born in San Francisco, California. In March 1998, he was appointed ambassador to the United Nations Development Program.

He has been married to Asake Bomani since 1975 and has one child named Mandisa. He also has a younger brother named Martin.

As a young man he was a member of the Black Panther Party. He remains an outspoken critic of race relations in the U.S.

Among many awards, he has won five NAACP Image Awards, for his achievements as a black actor.

He would join the ranks of actors, such as Humphrey Bogart, Elliot Gould, Robert Mitchum, who have portrayed Raymond Chandler's private eye detective Philip Marlowe in the episode 'Red Wind' of the Showtime network's 1995 series 'Fallen Angels.'

Glover would make his directorial debut with the Showtime channel short film Override in 1994.

He graduated from San Francisco State University, where he met his wife.

He is a San Francisco Giants fan.
