WWE Career
Batista began his WWE career alongside Reverend D-Von known as Deacon Batista on the SmackDown! brand. Soon after, he went to RAW and joined Triple H and Ric Flair and (then member) Randy Orton to become part of Evolution.
Batista has won the World Tag Team Championship twice with Flair, and even held it during a stretch when all the men's championship belts on RAW - the World Heavyweight Championship, WWE Intercontinental Championship and World Tag-Team Championship - were all held by members of Evolution, one belt for each of its four members.
His Royal Rumble victory on January 30, 2005 earned him the right to participate in the main event of WrestleMania 21 against the champion of his choice; on Monday Night Raw, February 22, 2005, Batista turned on Triple H and Ric Flair after overhearing them discuss Triple H's plan to get Batista to leave for SmackDown! (A plan which included staging SmackDown! champion John Bradshaw Layfield running him over with his limo) He turned his back on them by signing a new contract with the RAW brand to face World Heavyweight Champion Triple H at WrestleMania 21. This also meant that Batista was no longer a part of Evolution, leaving only Flair and Triple H as members and signalled the turn of Evolution into nothing more then a Tag-Team instead of a stable.
He won his first World Heavyweight Championship on April 3, 2005 after defeating Triple H at WrestleMania 21 in Los Angeles, California.
