The Daventry district is a large local government district of western Northamptonshire, England. Named after the town of Daventry which is the administrative headquarters and largest town, other significant settlements in the district include Brixworth, Long Buckby and Weedon Bec. Most of the district is rural and sparsely populated.
Since 1576 the town of Daventry had borough status. The present Daventry district was created on April 1st 1974. By a merger of the Daventry borough with the Daventry Rural District and the Brixworth Rural District . In 2003 a new civil parish was created covering the town of Daventry, roughly corresponding with the boundaries of the former Daventry borough, allowing Daventry to have its own town council.
