David Rawlings
David Rawlings is a formidable guitarist who forms a great duo with Gillian Welch. The two are longtime partners, and audiences who witness their performances have likened the experience to going to church - reverential, soulful and above all, an uplifting experience.
He co-wrote many of the songs, and produced some of her albums.
Dave Rawlings has an understated stage charisma. He doesn't talk much, but his playing speaks for itself. You can tell that there is no place he'd rather be, and he and Welch are one with each other, in both their guitar playing and their vocal harmonies.
