David Roberts (mayor)

(Redirected from David Roberts (Mayor))

David Roberts (born on July 14, 1956) is the current mayor of Hoboken, New Jersey and is Hoboken's 36th mayor. He was elected mayor on May 8, 2001 and replaced Anthony Russo. In the 2001 election, Roberts got 6,064 votes and Russo got 4,759 votes. Roberts' inaugural address was on July 1, 2001, and he announced a "master plan" for the city that was approved by the Hoboken Planning Board in 2004. On January 20, 2005, he announced a plan to create over 13 acres (52,609 m²) of open space and new parks, called the Hoboken Parks Initiative, in addition to the parks that exist already. However, David Roberts also funded the controversial Toddler playground project in Church Square Park, which has created public disapproval.
