David White
David White was a former football (soccer) player but is better known as a football manager.
He had a undistinguished playing career with Clyde F.C. being his only club.
He landed his big break in 1967 when he was appointed as assistant to Scott Symon at Rangers F.C.. Symon resigned just five months later and White was appointed as manager. His reign was generally unsuccessful and was, and is to date, the only Rangers manager not win any major honours. With Rangers' high expectations and the success at Celtic F.C. under Jock Stein, the pressure built on White and after a Cup Winners Cup exit to Poland team Gornick in 1969 he was sacked as manager.
He later went on to manage Dundee F.C. and, somewhat ironically, steered them to a Scottish League Cup triumph in 1973-1974 against the team who had caused him so many problems at Rangers - Celtic.
