Department of Toxic Substance Control (DTSC) is represented both at the federal and state levels of government: This agency monitors exposure to hazardous, radioactive, and toxic wastes in addition to enforcement of compliance by individual businesses, corporations, states, and local governments, their agencies and representatives, to state and national environmental protection agencies rules, regulations, and guidelines.

The Department of Toxic Substance Control works very closely with states' and federal attorney(s) general(s), Department of Justice (DOJ), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Agency for Toxic Substance Disease Registry (ATSDR), state (DHHS), Department of Health and Human Services, (NEPA) National Environmental Policy Agency , and the United States Army Corps of Engineers, federal (HHS), Health and Human Services, NASA, USN, USAF, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), states (OES) Office of Emergency Services , Highway Patrol, municipal police departments, and with anti-terrorist Homeland Security programs, agencies, and officials, etcetera. DTSC tests and monitors waters and soils for contamination from poisons and other toxic substances.
