Dhobitalao
Dhobitalao is a neighbourhood in the city of Mumbai, India. Its name means washerman's lake. It is located in the South Mumbai area. The lake was filled up about 120 years ago. A public library stands over the land that was the lake. Just off the current site, is the famous Metro Cinema .
In British times, dhobis used to wash the British soldiers clothes apart here. It was also used to wash public linen. Near the current location is a major junction in South Mumbai – a confluence of 6 roads.
