Dinara Safina

Dinara Mikhailovna Safina (ethnic Tatar)(born April 27, 1986) is a professional tennis player from Russia. She was born in Moscow and currently resides there as well. She is also the younger sister of Russian tennis player Marat Safin.

Right-handed Dinara has an imposing presence on the court with her 6-foot tall stature. Like her older brother, Dinara started playing tennis when she was very young. She turned pro in 2001. Her highest singles ranking was 29 on April 12, 2004. Safina also plays doubles matches. Her highest ranking for doubles was 54 on July 5, 2004.

In the 2004 Australian Open, Safina upset Amanda Coetzer of South Africa before losing to Kim Clijsters of Belgium. As of August 2004, her career prize money totalled $475,392. She is also sponsored by Adidas and Babolat.
