Division of Brand

The Division of Brand is an Australian Electoral Division in Western Australia. The division was created in 1984 and is named for Sir David Brand, a long-serving Premier of Western Australia. It is located in the coastal region south of Perth, and includes the towns of Kwinana , Mandurah and Rockingham. It has been held by the Australian Labor Party since its creation, but has never been a safe seat. Its member since 1996 has been Kim Beazley, Leader of the Labor Party 1996-2001 and since 2005. Beazley (previously Member for Swan) won Brand by a very narrow margin in 1996, but has since stengthened his position.
