Djarum
Djarum is a popular brand of clove cigarettes (or kreteks) manufactured in Indonesia. The most popular subbrand of these cigarettes, Djarum Blacks, have a black wrapper and a sweet and mellow taste. They are popular with members of the goth subculture and hipsters in North America and Europe. Djarum Specials, commonly called 'reds,' are the equivalent of a medium strength cigarette and are wrapped with red paper. Some feel that these cigarettes are an easier and lighter smoke than the blacks, yet others are more critical of the reds, as they have less clove in them and provide a less euphoric effect. Djarum also offers a variety of other cigarettes, including various flavored varieties and the unfiltered, premium-priced "Originals."
