Double Concerto (Brahms)
The Double Concerto in A minor, Op. 102 by Johannes Brahms is a concerto for violin, cello and orchestra. It was Brahms' final work for the orchestra, the remaining body of his compositions being written for the piano, for song (German Lieder) and through chamber music. It is considered one of Brahms' greatest masterpieces and is the only concerto of its kind ever composed. Brahms wrote it as a reconciliation between his friend the violinist Joseph Joachim, with whom he had not spoken on good relations for some time.
It consists of three movements, as is usual for concerti:
- Allegro
- Andante
- Vivace non troppo
