Dystos or Distos or Dhistos (Greek: Δύστος), Older form/Latin: Dystus was a lake in Euboea island and is a municipality which is also known as Dysties or Disties. The seat of the municipality of the same name is in Krieza . During the 1950s, the power corporation of Greece establish a steam power plant close to the lake at the city of Aliveri . That power plant use lake water for the cooling system. The Dryopians were the first founders of Dystos in Ancient Times. After some years in the 1980s, the lake was disappeared by some fires which made more farms. The fire lasted for a few days as tens of farmers began burning dry grasses similar to savannahs and some of the were carrying sheep with them and became a plain with mixed farming. Eventually at 2000, a part of the lake regenerated due to the heavy rain falls in the area. Fishing and birds are founded in the lake The area is protected by the ramsare agreement.

The name of the lake dates back to ancient times.
